JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The current condition of some park bridges in Jamestown were discussed by the Jamestown City Council Monday night.
Mayor Dwaine Heinrich says some concerns have been raised concerning bridges over the James River.
Heinrich says the Jamestown Parks & Recreation is a separate entity from the city and bridges connect their property to some city property.
Heinrich says through Central Valley Health’s work to increase walkability in the community, a grant was discovered that might could cover around 80% of the cost needed. The grant deadline is August 19th and Heinrich added Parks & Recreation Executive Director Amy Walters has agreed to write for the grant.
Mayor Heinrich says attorney’s may be working on a joint powers agreement to spell out responsibility’s if the grant is approved.
The Council also moved to sell three solid waste trucks to Valley City.
Valley City has been utilizing the trucks from the city for the past year. The trucks include a Rolloff 1998, Rolloff 2008, and Rearload truck. The sale was unanimously approved at $30,000.
The city also approved a Beer, Wine, and Sparkling Wine license for Pit Stop Sports and tabled a proposal from RTS Shearing for the demolition of the building and all associated exterior concreate on the property located at 101 2nd Ave. SE.
The city also discussed purchase of one tractor for the Wastewater Department at a cost of $162,000. Engineering Tech Tyler Michel says the low bid came from Central Sales.
Heinrich stated they’ll need to figure out where the additional $62,000 would come from to pay for the tractor. Michel estimates the city will receive the equipment in May or June of 2023. The council unanimously approved.
