JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – While fishing opportunities remain, it’s important to start planning your fall and winter hunting and outdoor opportunities now.

Game & Fish Wildlife Biologist Doug Leier says the big deer season has numerous tags available after the lottery on a first-come, first-served basis.

As of Thursday, July 28, there were roughly 2,600 licenses available.

Leier says there is still time to apply for one of the 1,970 pronghorn licenses in the state.

Only North Dakota residents are eligible to apply for a pronghorn license. Hunters who have accumulated bonus points and choose not to apply this year will not lose their points, but will not earn a point for next year. However, hunters who do not want a license in 2022 have the option to purchase a bonus point on the application.
