WEST FARGO, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Payton Hochhalter drove in five runs at the plate and picked up the win on the hill as the Jamestown Eagles defeated #1 Fargo Post 2 in an offensive slugfest, 11-8.

The bats for the Eagles didn’t cool off at all as Jamestown scored three times in the first inning. Fargo would tie it at three in the second but that was the last time Post 2 would be even with Jamestown as the Eagles scored eight runs over the course of the next four innings to go ahead 10-3. Hochhalter and Jackson Walters closed the door on another win over a top three team.

Hochhalter worked six and a third and struck out six while allowing eight runs on the hill. Walters earned his second save in a row and went 1-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Jamestown totaled 12 hits as a team as Connor Hoyt and Hochhatler each had three hits. Hoyt drove in two runs at the dish.

Max Fronk was 2-for-4 with two runs driven in and Carson Orr and Preston Gall each drove in a run for the Eagles. Jamestown committed just one error defensively and Fargo had eight runs on eight hits and four errors.

With the win, Jamestown has guaranteed itself a spot in the AA Legion Baseball Championship series. The Eagles will face Mandan Friday night at 5:00 PM on Jamestown 1071 with a chance to knock out the Chiefs and give Post 14 two shots to win the title. IF Jamestown loses Friday, the Eagles would then play in a winner take all championship game at 3:00 pm on Saturday.
