VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Ricky Klaverkamp is our newest on-air personality in Valley City.
In addition to his on-air duties on KOVC 1490AM/96.3FM and Big Dog 95.5FM, he will be taking over as Sports Director and will be the voice of the Hi-Liner and Valley City State University (VCSU) Viking athletics.
Ricky grew up on a dairy farm in Clearwater, Minnesota and went to school at St. Cloud State University (SCSU.) He majored in Mass Communications-Radio with a minor in History. He is currently finishing his minor and is set to graduate in August.
Prior to working for i3G Media he worked for the SCSU station KVSC as the Assistant Sports Director. He would be the radio voice of High School Basketball for the 2021-22 season following St. Cloud Tech to the Minnesota State Tournament. He was also one of the voices for high school and college soccer. He also called high school hockey, college softball, high school baseball, and high school lacrosse during his tenure at KVSC.
He was also a member of the Minnesota National Guard. He was deployed once to Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates with the 34th Infantry Division as a Radar Operator. He was also activated to State Active Duty twice with the 334th Brigade Engineer Battalion (BEB) out of Stillwater as a Chaplain’s Assistant. He would finish his tenure with the 334th BEB.
His hobbies include: reading, hiking, watching sports, playing video games, and playing board games.
