Marjorie (Margie) Ellen Eggert, 70, of Valley City, North Dakota, passed away, Tuesday, July 26 surrounded by her family and dear friends.
Marjorie was born December 20, 1951, in Valley City to Wayne and Shirley (Stroh) Hanson. She grew up in Kathryn, ND and at the age of five, moved to Rogers, ND, where she was baptized and confirmed, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rogers, ND. She graduated from North Central High School in 1969. Following High School, she attended and completed her year course at Wahpeton State School and was proudly a “Wildcat Kitten”.
On May 1, 1971, Margie married Gale (Buzz) Eggert at Trinity Lutheran Church in Valley City, ND and celebrated 50 years of marriage before Buzz passed away on August 22, 2021.
Margie enjoyed spending time in Arizona and at her lake home on Lake Lizzie in Minnesota, but most importantly quality time with family and friends. She was a pillar of strength for her husband, children and loved ones. There was never any doubt that her faith and her family were her main priorities in life.
Margie valued life on the farm while also working in the offices of 1st National Bank, Washington Elementary School and then retiring after 21-1/2 years on December 15, 2011 from Valley City State University.
Margie is survived by her two children; daughter, Suzanne (Garth) Stenehjem of Phoenix, AZ; a son, Timothy (Trisha) Eggert of Valley City, ND; five grandchildren, Alexis (Matthew) Ottis, William Eggert, Jaden Stenehjem, Carson Eggert, and Mya Stenehjem; and great grandson, Hudson Ottis. Her sister, Charlotte (Rick)Jorissen. She is also survived by four sister-in-laws and two brother-in-laws, Carolyn (Lee) Samson, Judy (Dick) Grenz, Colleen “Bea” (Gary) Tait, Allan (Jan) Eggert, Patricia (Mike) Conway, James (Marie) Eggert along with many loving nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gale (Buzz) Eggert, her parents, Wayne and Shirley Hanson and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Irv and Mabel Eggert.
The funeral service will be 10:30 am, Friday, July 29, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley City. Visitation will be 5 – 7 pm Thursday at the funeral home with a prayer service at 7 pm. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, Valley City. A “Celebration of Life” will be held at the Valley City Eagles Club following the service.
