JAMESTOWN, ND. (JamestownSpeedway.com) – The Jamestown Speedway was back in action on Saturday, July 23rd for Race of Champions Qualifier Night and 1/2 price Beer Night presented by Eddy Funeral Home (Eddy’s). We have to send out a huge thank you to Eddy’s for sponsoring the racing action and providing a bunch of giveaways and prizes to our junior fans. The weather was awesome and the racing action was intense. A lot of hard fought battles throughout the night, but also a few very bad rollovers.
We are so thankful that Billy Carow and Ryan Erdahl are doing good after their rollovers in the Bombers and INEX Legend feature events.

Overall, we had 91 cars in the pits to do battle.

Congratulations goes out to our feature winners and runner-ups:

Bombers/Pure Stocks – 16 Cars:

  • Winner: Joe Jacobson, Runner-Up: Hayden Aberle
  • Hard Charger: Jayden Michaelsohn +10 (13th to 3rd)

A very good battle between Joe Jacobson and Hayden Aberle up front in the feature. However, the rollover with Billy Carow on Lap 5 when his axel broke was a scary moment. Luckily, Billy got out of the car under his own power and he was later checked over at the medical center in Jamestown and his test results came back positive, so that was such great news.

INEX Legends – 21 Cars:

  • Winner: Donavin Wiest, Runner-Up: Glenn Mitchell
  • Hard Charger: Denise Kolden +14 (21st to 7th)

A very good battle up front between Gus Jensen, Dylan Steele, Alex Kukowski, Donavin Wiest, Glenn Mitchell, and Scott Richardson. It was a great race for the lead and during the lap 9 restart, Ryan Erdahl was involved in an incident on the front straightaway that ended up with a hard rollover in front of the grandstands that involved 7 cars. Luckily, Ryan got out of the car under his own power and was checked out by the local EMT staff with no injuries, so that was such great news.

Wissota Midwest Modifieds – 22 Cars:

  • Winner: Jaren Wibstad, Runner-Up: Brennon Weight
  • Hard Charger: Cole Neset +6 (19th to 13th)

After a lap 1 caution, the race went green to checkers with Jaren Wibstad holding off a hard-charging Brennon Weight. Brennon got to the bottom of Jaren in turns 1-2 and 3-4 on the last lap, but Jaren held him off on the high side. Jaren will represent Jamestown in the Race of Champions at the WISSOTA 100 in September!

Wissota Street Stocks – 14 Cars:

  • Winner: Billie Christ, Runner-Up: Chris Ritter
  • Hard Charger: Jaden Christ +6 (13th to 7th)

Billie Christ and Geoff Hellman battled up front for the lead until Billie took over the point early in the race and ended up with the victory. A great race for second ensued with Todd Carter, Chris Ritter, Geoff Hellman, Kasey Ussatis, and Ty Agen. Chris Ritter made the pass for 2nd out of turn 4 on the final lap on the high-side as they were two-and-three wide battling for that second position. Billie will represent Jamestown in the Race of Champions at the WISSOTA 100 in September!

IMCA Modifieds – 12 Cars:

  • Winner: John Nord, Runner-Up: Scott Gartner
  • Hard Charger: Scott Gartner +8 (10th to 2nd)

John Nord was gone from the field as he had a huge lead throughout the race. However, a great battle for second behind John Nord ensued between Jordan Sours and Scott Gartner. Scott made the pass for second with 1 lap to go and Jordan unfortunately looped it in turns 3-4 on the last lap battling hard with Scott Gartner. Congratulations also to Kevin Oeder (A rookie in the IMCA Mods this year) on a great finish in 3rd.

Jr./Sr. Slingshots – 6 Cars:

  • Winner: Tripp Nelson, Runner-Up: Gavin Edinger

Once again, thank you to all of the drivers, fans, sponsors, and track personnel that came out to the show on Saturday night. We really appreciate everyone’s support at the Jamestown Speedway and we have to thank everyone for coming out. We hope all of the drivers had a great time and hope to see everyone back throughout the season.

We will by off from racing next weekend as the North Dakota Governor’s Cup is occurring at the Dacotah Speedway in Mandan. Please join us on August 6th for Ladies Night with all regular classes running! The gates open at 5:30 pm and racing action begins at 7:00 pm. Hope to see everyone on August 6th for some horsepower at the Jamestown Speedway!
