LAMOURE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – LaMoure Post 19 dominated their way back to the State Tournament by winning 10-0 in five innings over Lisbon Post 7 in the District 7 Championship.
Corban Potts started the scoring in the bottom of the first with an RBI single that brought home Tate Mart who led off the game with a double. That would only be a sample of LaMoure’s offensive prowess as they added five runs in the third inning with RBIs from Potts, Landon Piehl, Anthony Hansen, Cyle Warcken and Garrett Hebl. They wouldn’t stop there, though, as they added four more runs in the fourth with RBIs from Potts, Piehl and Hebl. The game-winning run came off an error in center field off the bat of Potts to clinch their spot in the state tournament.
Potts finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles and three RBI. Mart had a double and a triple with three runs in the leadoff spot. Piehl was 2-for-3 with two RBI singles and two runs at the plate. On the mound, he dominated for five innings surrendering just three hits, no walks and no runs. He struck out five batters and picked up the win. Cyle Warcken also had a multi-hit day going 2-for-3 with an RBI single. Piehl and Potts were named the game’s MVP.
LaMoure will be headed to the state tournament which will be held in Garrison on Wednesday, July 27th through Sunday, July 31st.
