Douglas Harvey Janke, 53, passed away on July 1, 2022, at Banner University Medical Center, Phoenix, Arizona.

Doug was born on November 17, 1968, in Gackle, ND.  He was the second of three children born to Wilbert and JoAnn (Entzminger) Janke.  Doug graduated from Gackle High School in 1987.  He attended Interstate Business College in Fargo studying travel and tourism and graduated in 1988.  Doug had a life-long love of travel and visited many countries, sometimes for work and sometimes for pleasure.  He was currently working as a government travel agent in Glendale, AZ.  

Doug spent 20+ years working for American Express as an instructional designer and learning and performance specialist.  This job allowed him many opportunities to travel and train staff on computer programs.  He loved the Philippines.

Doug was an amateur photographer and has documented our lives with his photographs.  His home is like a museum of family history and wonderful memories of his life and the lives of our ancestors. He loved loved loved to cook and was happy to share the fruits of his labor with friends and family.  He would do catering just for fun.  He opened his home to friends on holidays and was happy to do all the cooking.  His passions, in addition to travel and photography, were movies, Tastefully Simple, and French fries, equally passionate in his refusal to eat onions.

Doug is survived by his parents, sisters Shirley (Wayne) Lahr and Bobbi (David) Johnson, nieces and nephew Ashley (Nick) Scocchera, Sydney (Justin) Workman, Reese Johnson, and Jayla Johnson, great nieces Serenity and Lily Sykes, Novalee Workman, Ellianna Scocchera.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Andrew and Magdalena Janke and Bernie and Nettie Entzminger.

Memorial Service- 11:30 AM Sunday, July 24, 2022 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown (the family requests purple be worn).
