JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Day three of the Class B District 4 American Legion Baseball tourney was held on Wednesday with three games and another two teams eliminated, here are the results:
Carrington 6 Kidder County 3
The number three seed in the tournament knocks off the number one seed Wolves of Kidder County in the first game on Wednesday. Carrington Post 25 started early once again, scoring three runs in the top of the first and never looked back. The Wolves committed some costly errors early on as well, ending with five total. Lucas Hendrickson picks up the victory, working all seven innings, 96 pitches, three earned runs, nine hits and seven strikeouts. Jayden Rath takes the loss, working all seven, 120 pitches, six runs, three earned, eight strikeouts and nine hits. Trent Ekren and Hendrickson had two hits each for Post 25, Ekren knocked in three. Blake Braun and Connor Wolfer had two hits each for KC. Carrington is now 3-0 in the tourney and improves to 9-9 overall, KC drops to 14-7 overall and 1-1 in the tourney.
Linton/Ashley/Wishek 16 Jamestown Hawks 10 (elimination game)
After being down 5-1, the LAW Rattlers score six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead 7-5 and never looked back. The Hawks end their season at 5-23-1 overall.
KIDDER COUNTY 4 Linton-Ashley-Wishek 3
The top two seeds in District 4 squared off in an elimination game in the final game of the day. Pitchers Isaiah Oster (KC) and Marshall Lindgren (LAW) dueled on the hill for the entire game but defensive mistakes caught up to the Rattlers. Kidder County took a 1-0 lead in the third off a Jace Larson double which scored Blake Braun. LAW responded in the fifth with three runs of their own with Rykan Salwei and Lindgren driving in runs. Kidder County answered the call in the bottom of the frame by scoring three runs to retake the lead. LAW committed three errors in the fifth which all led to runs. Lindgren was given the loss despite not allowing an earned run and striking out nine. Oster got the complete game victory, allowing two earned runs and picking up five strikeouts. The Rattlers end their season at 18-9 overall. Kidder County improves to 15-7 and will need two wins over Carrington tomorrow to advance to state.
