Oakes, N.D (NewsDakota.com)——Lisbon is in the drivers seat after the third day of the 2022 District 6 Babe Ruth tournament and LaMoure battled it’s way back to the title game with a pair of wins. Lisbon, the number 2 seed going into the tournament defeated top seeded Edgeley 3-1 in the semifinals to advance to the title game and LaMoure, the number 3 seed, defeated Steele 4-2 and Edgeley 15-2 to earn a spot in the title where they will need to defeat Lisbon twice in order to win the District 6 crown.

Scores from day 3:

Semifinal—Lisbon  3     Edgeley  1

Lisbon scored 2 insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning and Edgeley scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the seventh as Lisbon advanced to the championship with a 3-1 victory. Colton Johnson threw a complete game for Lisbon to pickup the pitching win and lead Lisbon to the win.

Elimination game—-LaMoure A’s  4     Steele  2

Colby Thielges pitched a complete game allowing 1 earned run and Owen Lesko (1-3, 2 SB) drilled a 3 run double in the bottom of the second inning with 2 outs to give the A’s enough offense to win the game. Gunnar Thielges went 2-4 and drove in a big insurance run in the top of the sixth inning that scored Logan Potts (1-2, 2 runs, BB) who singled to leadoff the inning. Donaven Martin had an RBI single in the fifth inning that scored Seth Dewitz who doubled to start the inning. Trey Silbernagel, reached on an error,  scored in the fourth inning on a RBI double from Andrew Schmidt for Steele’s other run. Preston Fisher took the loss on the mound allowing 3 earned runs. Steele’s season came to an end with a 7-9 overall record and Lamoure improved to 15-5.

Elimination game—-LaMoure A’s  15     Edgeley  2

LaMoure jumped all over Edgeley scoring 4 runs in the first, 3 runs in the second, 4 runs in the third, and 4 runs in the fourth inning and cruised to a 15-2 victory. The A’s were aided early by the Edgeley pitching staff who allowed 2 walks and a hit batter in the first inning. A bases loaded walk to Avery Kramer (0-2, RBI, 2BB) scored Colby Thielges (1-1, BB, 2HBP, 4 runs, SB) who singled to leadoff the game. Jake Kramer followed with an RBI fielders choice that scored Owen Lesko (1-2, 4RBI, run, HBP, sac) and Mason Warcken (2-3, run, BB). Russell Exner (1-2, run, RBI) delivered a 2 out RBI single that scored Jake Kramer to make it a 4-0 lead after a half inning of play. Gunnar Thielges 2 1/3 inning to get the win and was pulled early to save his innings and pitch count for Sunday’s championship day. Thielges also went 2-4 at the plate with 5 RBI and scored 3 runs. Leading 11-0 after 2.5 innings Edgeley scored a single run in the bottom of the third on an RBI sacrifice fly from Damian Carlson that scored Joe Kramlich (1-3, run) who singled earlier in the inning. LaMoure improved to 16-5 overall and Edgeley finished a fine season with a 13-3 overall record. LaMoure will play Lisbon at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, a second championship game would start 30 minutes after the first game if LaMoure wins the first game.
