JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School Advance Theatre presents their production of the musical “Matilda” on June 30th & July 1st at the Jamestown High School.

“Matilda the Musical” is based on the 1988 children’s novel of the same name by Roald Dahl. It was adapted by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and directed for the stage by Matthew Warchus.

Director Mike McIntyre says the show cast was a good fit for the students.

McIntyre says many be familiar with the story, which was also turned into a movie released in 1996.

Ben Shirley will play the role of Bruce in the show.

Emma Wiley will play Mrs. Wormwood, Matilda’s mother in the show. She says she welcomes the challenge this role will give her.

McIntyre adds the cast will be supported with a full ensemble led by his wife, Cheryl McIntyre. She is also heading up choreography for the show.

Olivia Hoke is also assisting with choreography and costuming.

Tickets for the show will be sold at the door at $7 for adults and $5 for students. Showtimes will be 7 PM each evening at the Jamestown High School Theatre.
