Barbara Jean Henke, 71, West Fargo, North Dakota formerly Valley City, North Dakota passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. The funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 25 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Valley City. Visitation will be 6-7 pm Friday at the church with a prayer service at 7 pm. Visitation will continue Saturday one hour before the service at the church.
Barbara Jean Kelly was born December 2, 1950 in Valley City, North Dakota, the daughter of Earl and Ruby (Strand) Kelly. She graduated from Valley City High School in 1968 and then attended Valley City State University.
Barb married Paul Allan Henke on June 30, 1973. They made their home in Valley City where Barb worked at the family business, Ben Franklin, and as an EMT for Scott Miller for many years.
Barb was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Valley City. She served as a volunteer for the Red Cross for 28 years.
Barb is survived by her husband of 49 years; her children, Carmen Michelle Sorensen (Jason Trzpuc) of Valley City and Nicholas Michael (Lindsey) Henke of Bloomington, Minnesota; grandchildren, Hannah Sorensen of West Fargo, Zoe Henke and Liev Henke of Bloomington; a brother, James (Donna) Kelly of Lehi, Utah and a sister, Susan Schuchard of West Fargo. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Michael Earl Kelly and Robert Steven Kelly and her granddaughter, Nora Kelly Henke.
Memorials may be directed to the Red Cross or Red River Zoo, Fargo.
