ECKELSON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Fire fighters responded to a fire at an abandoned farm house north of I-94 near exit 276 on Sunday, June 19th about 4:20pm.
Sanborn Fire Chief Tim Lyter said the building was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived on the scene. He said, being the home was abandoned and a total loss, the focus of their fight protection shifted to the owners out buildings close to the fire.
Lyter said no injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. He said warm temperatures and a strong southerly wind quickly fueled the fire within a matter of minutes. The abandoned farm home is a total loss but the out buildings were saved.
