JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Post 14 Eagles picked up their first win of the year during game one of a doubleheader with West Fargo Post 308 on Thursday before falling in game two to go 1-1 on the day.

GAME ONE: JAMESTOWN 7, WEST FARGO 5

A six-run fourth inning by the Eagles, which included three runs scored by a walk or hit by pitch, helped Jamestown get its first win of the year during the first game of the doubleheader. Jacoby Nold led off the fourth with a single before Carson Orr reached base on an error at third. With two runners on and no outs, Connor Hoyt dropped down a bunt single to load the bases. A batter later, Thomas Newman picked up an RBI by taking a walk to make it 2-1.

The inning continued with two outs when Michael Mahoney drew a walk to tie it up at two in the fourth. Jamestown would take the lead after Mason Lunzman was hit by a pitch, and then Jackson Walters tacked on two more runs with a single. Nold then ripped another single, his second of the inning, to make it 6-2. Post 14 would get one more run in the sixth off a Mahoney RBI, and Walters slammed the door shut with two scoreless innings of work out of the bullpen.

Lunzman earned the win on the hill in game one, going five innings and allowing five runs. Walters picked up the save, striking out two and facing just six batters in two innings. Mahoney and Nold led the Eagles at the plate with two hits apiece.

GAME TWO: WEST FARGO 5, JAMESTOWN 4

Post 14 started game two hot by scoring four runs in the first two innings, but the Patriots mounted a late comeback to force a split in the doubleheader. Carson Orr was handed the loss in relief for Jamestown after Jackson Walters went five innings and gave up four runs in game two. Nold and Mahoney each had two more hits in game two.

Post 14 will have a quick turnaround this week as the Eagles take on Fargo Post 2 on Saturday at Jack Brown at 2:00 PM. Coverage of game one can be heard on Jamestown 1071/1400, online at newsdakota.com, or on the Jamestown 107.1 app.
