VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The annual Rally in the Valley will have something for everyone in Valley City on Saturday, June 18th.
Something new this year, the weekend will kick off with the first “Peggy Lee Day” Friday, June 17th in Valley City. The day honors her legacy and contribution to the music industry over her more than 70 career. She got her start on KOVC Radio back in 1936. On Friday, June 17th at 7pm Myron Sommerfeld will be playing Peggy Lee music in the new VCSU Center for the Fine Arts. The event is free and open to the public, they ask that you bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Barnes County Food Pantry. Pink ice cream will be served and coffee by Alley Beans in the lobby of the new VCSU Center for the Fine Arts after the show.
Rally in the Valley, kicks off with the Barnes County Municipal Airport’s breakfast, fly-in, drive-in and walk-in from 7am to 9:30am.
The 40th annual Bill Jansen Road Race/Walk starts at 8am in Hi Line Park.
Food and Craft vendors will be set up in Veterans Park from 9am to 5pm.
The Big Parade starts at 10am down Central Avenue.
The Bridge City Cruisers Car Show runs from 11am to 4pm.
Games Galore Inflatable Games for the kids in the Rosebud Visitor Center Parking Lot from 11am to 4pm.
Pie at the Valley City Barnes County Public Library from 11am to 3pm.
Duckin’ Down the Sheyenne Rubber Duck Race starts at 3:30pm at the City Park Walk Bridge.
Dance to the Haymakers featuring Valley City native Tim Heetland as the lead singer during the street dance on Main Street starting at 9pm.
There will also be city-wide garage sales, class reunions and the annual Rally in the Valley Amateur Baseball Classic June 17-19 at Charlie Brown Memorial Field in Valley City.
