OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After an hour of rain delay, the 50th Irrigation Days Parade in Oakes was able to kick off a little after 7:00 p.m.

Isabelle Haring sang the national anthem to start off the evening with the 90 parade floats, trucks, old-timey vehicles, and more that drove down the streets of Oakes. There was a little bit of everything from businesses in and out of town to the many classes who graduated from Oakes High School coming up with very creative floats.

The three judges of the floats were Haley Sundby, Renee Sundby, and Meagan Quandt. They decided to add a category since the classes made such a great turnout on Friday night. The winner of Best Class Float was the Class of 1991. The 2nd Best Class was 1989 and the 3rd Best was the Class of 1970.

The 1st Place Float was Murphy’s Plumbing, 2nd Place was Starion Bank and 3rd Place was Kustom Machine. The Best Car/Pickup Truck Unit was a 1934 Buick Sport Coupe driven by Shane Walock. The Best Horse/Group Performance Unit was Fort Ransom/Bear Creek Group. The Best Tractor/Ag Equipment Unit was Dennis Roney. The judges also got Judge’s Choices and those went to the Lifeguards, El Zagal Vikings Float, and Good Samaritan’s.
