JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The James River Humane Society relies upon donations and volunteers to keep the local non-profit, no-kill shelter in operation.

Board Member Jay Nitschke says they welcome more volunteers at any time to help them in many different capacities.

Volunteers are needed from 4 PM to 7 PM weekdays and weekends for both the cats and dogs at the shelter.

Nitschke says they also continue to open by appointment to prospective adoptees, but are discussing when to return to a normal operation.

She added that if you can’t volunteer, you can donate monetarily or with necessary items the shelter needs. Another unique way to donate is through you online shopping.

Nitschke says they have a working “wish list” of items they need that can be donated at anytime to the shelter or various spots in the community.

And for the dogs?

June is also cat month at the Humane Society. Adoptions are reduced to $150 for the first adoption and $125 for the second adoption.
