ANETA, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Aneta Turkey Barbecue and Summer Festival, now in its 61st year, takes place June 16, 17, 18, and 19.
The highlight of the weekend, of course, is the turkey BBQ. Join us at the park from 4:30 to 7:30 on Saturday, June 18.
The festival starts on Thursday, June 16, with a basketball game in the Auditorium at 7 pm. Then, on Friday, June 17, there’s the annual tasting of rhubarb recipes from 2 to 4 at the Aneta Orchard. While you’re there, check out the Swap Meet from 2 pm-5 pm, Orchard.
After that, you’ll want to join everyone at the Rib Buffet, White Tail Beer Garden 5:30-8:30 pm. Then, it’s time for the fabulous Talent Show at 7 pm in the Auditorium. Last year was a rousing success and we hope you can join us! Friday’s events end with Karaoke at the White Tail from 9 pm to 1 am.
Saturday, June 18, opens with the Pancake Breakfast at Sundahl Church 7:30 am to 10 am. There will be games for kids 12 and under at the Orchard at 10 a.m. Then, there’s the Classic Car and Snowmobile Display on Main Street from 10 am to 2:00 pm. Next, there’s 4H Kids Games at the City Park from 11 am to 1:00 pm.
The Old-Time Tractor Pull with cash prizes runs from 11 am to 2 pm. Weigh in by 10 am at CHS and sponsored by the Stump Lake Tractor Club..You’ll want to head over to the Lunch Stand at the Auditorium basement from 11 am to 2 pm. Then, it’s time for Rat Ball Basketball Shooting Contest at the court by the Pavilion from 12 noon to 7 pm. The Crafts and Vendors Show runs from 12 noon to 8 pm in the Pavilion, at the City Park, and in the Fire Hall. Be sure to take note that the parade this year is at 2:30 pm! The Inflatable Games are available from 4 pm to 8 pm at the park.
The 61st Annual Aneta Turkey Barbecue is set for Saturday, June 18, from 4:30 to 7:30 pm in the park. There will be live music by the fabulous DOWN TOWN HORNS while you eat. We have 312 turkeys, 1000 pounds of potato salad, 900 pounds of beans, 100 pounds of potato chips and more! Tickets for the barbecue at $15 for adults, $6 for ages 6-12, and preschool is free.
The evening ends with a street dance on Main Street. This is sponsored by White Tail Bar and features “Rhyme or Reason.” This runs from 9 pm to 1 am.
Sunday, June 19, it’s time for the All Faith Service in the park at 10:00 a.m. Following the service, head for the softball game at 4 pm on the west side of Aneta.
