VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Several parishioners and priests from the Fargo Diocese celebrated the 40th anniversary of the ordination to the priesthood of Reverend Monsignor Dennis Skonseng in St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in Valley City on June 6th.
His Excellency, The Most Reverend John T. Folda gave the homily and said Monsignor Skonseng is a gifted priest, who has served the diocese with distinction and honor.
Monsignor Skonseng has served the Valley City parish since 2010, previously he was the Vicar General and Vicar for Clergy of the Diocese of Fargo from 2004 to 2009. He was the Formation and Spiritual Director of Cardinal Muench Seminary in Fargo from 1993 to 2004 and 2009 to 2010. He also served as a priest in other parishes from 1982 to 1993.
Monsignor Skonseng has been reassigned to serve the parish of St. Rose of Lima in Hillsboro, ND. He will begin serving that parish in July of 2022.
The Reverend Paul Duchschere will become the new pastor in Valley City. He is currently serving as the pastor of St. Anne & Joachim Catholic Church in Fargo.
