Coach Matt Nielson’s thoughts:
“Kailee pushed the #2 from the west in her first round. She even had a 5-4 lead in the second set before Felderman made the last push to win the match. In her second match, Kailee came back from 1-5 down in the first set to then win 6 of 7 games to win the first set. Klitzke proved too consistent and won the final two sets. Kailee had a great 8th grade year which included being the first singles state qualifier since 2017 with senior Breanna McDonald. This was a great experience for her to build on for the future.”
“Breck and Olivia played great matches against Century on team day and continued that momentum in the opening round pulling off the huge upset of a #2 by a #7. We had many tight games, deuces, and a tiebreak, but pulled through to the championship side. Against Davies and Red River, we never gained traction. We would play great games and points, but couldn’t string enough together to pull out another win. Breck and Olivia will both be back next year on a still young team. These two are fantastic leaders that led our team to state qualifying for the second straight year. Also, we placed at the state tournament for only the 2nd time in the last 15 years! It was a great season and a big part was these two on top of our line-up.”
