JAMESTOWN, N.D. (USACE) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District announces Pipestem Dam releases will increase by 125 cubic feet per second on June 2, and another 125 cfs on June 3, to continue evacuation of flood control storage.

Along with Pipestem Dam, Jamestown Dam releases will hold at 800 cfs for a combined release of 1,200 cfs. Repeated rainfall in the basin above the City of Jamestown has increased the combined reservoir levels and necessitated the release increase. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will continue to monitor conditions and adjust as needed based on runoff conditions.

As of June 1, Pipestem Reservoir is at a pool elevation of 1475.5 feet, 33 feet into the exclusive flood control zone, and Jamestown Reservoir is at a pool elevation of 1442.2 feet, 11.2 feet into the exclusive flood control zone.

As of June 1, 68 percent of the flood control space in the Jamestown Reservoir was vacant and available, and Pipestem Reservoir had 54.9 percent flood space available.
