FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Senior Landon Piehl pitches a complete game two-hit shutout of the Cardinals of Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich as the Loboes win 3-0 and return to the State Championship game. LLM is now 15-1 overall and LEM drops to 18-3 overall. LEM was the defending state champs, they will play for third place at 330pm on Saturday against Des Lacs/Burlington.
The Loboes scored two runs in the home half of the second inning and one more in the sixth. Piehl worked seven innings, 94 pitches, no runs, nine strikeouts, one walk and one hit batter. Piehl did not allow one run the entire regular season as well. Jack Romfo takes the loss, working six innings, three runs, one earned, three strikeouts, four hits, one walk and one hit batter. LLM had four hits, one each from Connor Johnson, Corbin Potts, Piehl and Cyle Warcken. The two hits for LEM were singles by Theo Romfo and Gage Goodman.
The number one seeded LLM Loboes will play in the State Championship game for the second year in a row, they will meet the number two seeded Thompson Tommies at 545p, Q101.1 and newsdakota.com will broadcast the game. The Loboes and Tommies met in the first game of the year for LLM, the Tommies won 2-1.
