JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Blue Jays got a 1st inning grand slam from Makenna Nold, however Dickinson would tie the game in the 4th, and then get a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th inning to advance to the Championship game Saturday afternoon at Trapper Field.

Top of the 1st inning with 2 out and the bases loaded, sophomore Makenna Nold stepped to the plate for the Blue Jays. Nold homered in Thursday’s 4-2 win over the West Fargo Packers. Jamestown’s number 6 hitter found herself in a quick 0-2 hole at the plate, but Nold would focus on the next pitch and drive the ball way beyond the fence in left centerfield for the grand slam and give the Blue Jays the early 4-0 lead. Katie Falk would get the start on the mound for Jamestown and would work a scoreless bottom of the 1st. Dickinson would get on the board in the home half of the second inning when their #9 hitter Bailey Berg would drive in a pair of runs on a single and make it a 4-2 Jamestown lead.

The Midgets would bring in Ava Jahner to pitch and replace starter Mataya Mortenson. Jahner would do an excellent job of using her speed to keep the Blue Jays bats quiet after the first inning. This gave Dickinson an opportunity to get the game even, and that is what they did in the bottom of the 4th. After a wild pitch would score Kali Kubas and make it a 4-3 Jamestown lead, lead off hitter Jenna Decker would bring in Hope Fath with an RBI single and make it a 4-4 game.

The teams would exchange scoreless innings until the bottom of the 7th. Dickinson would get a double and a pair of walks to load the bases with only 1 out. Kali Kubas would step to the plate with a chance to send Dickinson to the championship game, and that is just what she did with a sacrifice fly to centerfield, Taya Hopfauf would tag and score the winning run from 3rd base and give the Midgets the 5-4 walk-off win.

With the win Dickinson moves on to face Bismarck High in the championship match up at Trapper Field at 3:00pm. The Blue Jays will battle Bismarck Legacy in the 3rd place game that will take place at Trapper Field, first pitch is set for 12:00pm.
