JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School softball team helped the West Region punch all four tickets to the Class A semifinals on Thursday night as the Blue Jays defeated West Fargo 4-2 in the opening round of the Class A Tournament.

A three-run fourth inning proved to be all Jamestown needed offensively on Thursday as junior Ella Falk and sophomore Makenna Nold hit back-to-back home runs. Falk’s homer was a two-run blast which put the Jays ahead 2-0. Nold then took a pitch to straightaway centerfield to push Jamestown in front 3-0.

Jamestown picked up another run in the fifth, this time off an RBI double from senior Jenna Fischer. West Fargo responded with two runs in the bottom half of the fifth, but Nold came in in relief and struck out the Packers Mara Lick to keep the score at 4-2. Nold would end up with a save in two and a third innings of relief, and starter Katie Falk got the victory, giving up just two hits.

With the win, Jamestown moves to the winners bracket and semifinals of the Class A State Tournament and will now face #1 Dickinson for the sixth time this season. The Blue Jays will play at Trapper Field starting at 6 PM on Friday, and you can listen to full coverage on Jamestown 1071, newsdakota.com, or on the Jamestown 1071 app.
