FARGO, N.D. (NDHP) – On Tuesday, May 31, the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) celebrated the career of K-9 Fia and her handler, Trooper Kristjan Helgoe.

Trooper Helgoe and K-9 Fia were stationed in Fargo. K-9 Fia entered service in May 2014 and served for eight distinguished years with the NDHP. K-9 Fia is retiring, but Trooper Helgoe will continue his service to the citizens of North Dakota as a traffic enforcement trooper in Fargo.

Over her eight-year career, K-9 Fia was involved in the following:

• 200+ narcotic deployments
• Her work led to 79 felony and 217 misdemeanor drug arrests
• She located methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, MDMA, marijuana, THC products, fentanyl,
LSD, various types of prescription pills and firearms
• Her largest seizure was a stop where 32 lbs. of methamphetamine and 35 lbs. of marijuana
was located.
