BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The #5 Jamestown High School softball team punched its ticket to the state tournament on Saturday afternoon as the Blue Jays defeated #2 Minot 3-2 at Starion Bank Field.

Jamestown and Minot were scoreless until the fourth inning when both Katie Trumbauer and Jada Walter drove in runs with RBI doubles. Trumbauer plated Makenna Nold and then Walter drove in Trumbauer to put the Jays ahead 2-0. Minot would respond by scoring once in the bottom of the fourth.

In the fifth, Jenna Fischer reached base on a fielder’s choice and a Minot infield error allowed the Blue Jays to put runners on second and third with two outs. Nold increased the Jamestown lead back to two with an RBI single, scoring courtesy runner Benet Fronk. The Majettes would once again answer with a run, this time on a solo home run to make it 3-2.

After the homer, Nold took the circle and dominated for Jamestown, striking out seven batters and getting the save in relief. K. Falk earned the win, going four innings and allowing five hits, and striking out one. Jamestown got the final out in the seventh with the tying run standing on second for Minot.

With the win, the Blue Jays are headed to the state tournament for the second consecutive season and will be the #3 seed representing the West Region. Jamestown will get to play at home for the state tournament, which begins next Thursday June 2nd at Trapper Field.
