BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Day two of the 2022 North Dakota State Track & Field meet is in the books, and Valley City had several athletes run on Friday.

The day started off with Austin Shape running in the 100-meter prelims in which he finished 4th in his heat. He finished the race in 11.35 seconds which put him 19th overall and was unable to make the finals.

Reagan Berg and Greta Goven came back after running the 3200-meter race yesterday and competed in the 1600-meter final. Berg finished 9th with a time of 5:18.22 and was just one place away from picking up a team point. Goven finished in 14th place with a time of 5:28.50. Her time breaks Susie Olstad’s school record from 1981.

Shape returned to the track for the 200-meter prelims and was able to sneak his way into the finals. He ran the race in 22.31 seconds which put him third in his heat. This time also breaks the school record previously held by Nate Keller in 1998. There were four total heats with those finishing first and second automatically making the finals with one at-large with the best time, which Shape was able to accomplish. The 200-meter final is scheduled on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

The day concluded with the Hi-Liners competing in relays. Sydnee Ingstad, Carly Goven, Reagan Berg and Greta Goven ran in the 4×800-meter final and finished in 10th place with a time 10:19.07. Parker Jacobson, Evan Mielke, Aiden Jacobson and Austin Shape ran in the 4×100-meter prelims and finished 4th in their heat with a time of 45.15 seconds, which didn’t quite make the cut.

Action from the MDU Resources Community Bowl in Bismarck will conclude tomorrow starting at 9:30 a.m. You can listen to hourly updates on KOVC.
