BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School softball team came up just short of a West Region Championship berth on Friday afternoon in the capital city as #1 Dickinson outlasted Jamestown 1-0 in the WDA semifinals.
Katie Falk dueled with two different Dickinson pitchers, allowing just three hits through her first five innings in the circle. Jamestown couldn’t get its offense moving against the Midgets however as Dickinson held the Blue Jays to just two hits on the day.
The two hits from Jamestown came off the bats of Torrie Mack and Rylee Joseph, who each had singles. Jamestown didn’t have a runner get to third base in the game but had opportunities to score in the second and seventh innings. Dickinson scored their lone run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to walk it off on a single and send the Midgets to the WDA title game.
Jamestown will now turn around and head to a state qualifier game tomorrow morning at 11 AM against #2 Minot. The Majettes went 2-0 during the regular season against the Jays, winning two close games. Full coverage of the softball game can be heard on Jamestown 1071/1400, online at newsdakota.com, or on the Jamestown 1071 app. Immediately following softball, we’ll have coverage of Blue Jay baseball on 107.1.
