MANDAN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Six defensive errors by the Blue Jays on defense were too much to overcome on Thursday afternoon as Jamestown fell to Bismarck Century 7-5 in the opening round of the WDA Tournament.

The Blue Jays scored three times in the top of the first inning after Jackson Walters drove in a pair of runs to put the Jamestown in front. Starting pitcher Payton Hochhalter singled before Carson Orr helped pad the lead with an RBI by driving in Walters.

Jamestown took a 3-1 into the bottom of the third before Century capitalized on all those Blue Jay errors. Century would score five runs in the third off of five Jamestown errors to go ahead for good. The Blue Jays had the tying run on base in the top of the seventh but could not get the game to the bottom half of the frame, falling 7-5.

Now 11-11 overall, Jamestown will be in a loser-out game on Friday morning against Bismarck St. Mary’s at 11:00 AM. The Jays need to win tomorrow in order to play in a state qualifier at 12:00 PM on Saturday. Full coverage of the game against the Saints can be heard on Jamestown 1071/1400, online at newsdakota.com, or on the Jamestown 1071 app.
