BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Day one of the 2022 State Track & Field Meet from the MDU Resources Community Bowl in Bismarck is in the books and three Hi-Liners were in action.
Junior Karina Olson was the first athlete for Valley City to compete in the long jump. Her only jump that counted was her third jump which was measured at 16-feet-3-inches. Unfortunately, she fouled in her first and second jumps giving her a finish of sixth place in her flight and 13th overall as she was unable to qualify for the finals.
In the final event of the day for the Hi-Liners, sophomore Reagan Berg and freshman Greta Goven competed in the 3200-meter final. They ran together for the majority of the race. In the final lap, Berg made a surge into 7th place with a time of 11:47.83. Goven was not far behind finishing 12th with a time of 12:00.49. Berg’s top-ten finish gives the Hi-Liners two team points.
Those two points put Valley City in the standings as they currently sit in 15th place. Day two starts tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. and you can hear hourly updates on KOVC.
