VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Valley City residence sustained substantial damage after a fire broke out in the home at 635 8th Avenue Southeast Wednesday, May 18th shortly after 8 o’clock.

Fire Chief Scott Magnuson said upon arrival it was found that one occupant was home at the time with their dog. He said both were out of the residence when crews arrived on the scene.

He said it took fire crews about 35 minutes to bring the fire under control. Crews remained at the scene for approximately an hour and forty-seven minutes.

Magnuson said the homeowner was unable to stay at the residence after the fire was put down. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and more details will be released later.
