JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Blue Jays hit the road this weekend for soccer, baseball, tennis and golf as Spring sports ready for their respective West Region Tournaments.

GIRL’S SOCCER: FRIDAY – MINOT 5, JAMESTOWN 1 | SATURDAY – JAMESTOWN 4, WILLISTON 1

Senior Haley Nelson recorded her third hat trick of the year on Saturday as Jamestown took down the Coyotes to earn a weekend split in the West Region. Jamestown fell to first place Minot in the Magic City on Friday night but bounced back and scored the last four goals of their match on Saturday. Nelson now has 15 goals on the year and 17 total points. The Jays are 7-5 overall and in the West Region and Jamestown hosts Mandan on Tuesday night for Senior Night at 7:30 PM. The West Region Tournament starts next Tuesday, May 24th.

Minot has clinched a state tournament berth by winning the regular season title.

The Blue Jay baseball team dropped to .500 (7-7) overall on the year and in the West Region as the Jays lost a pair of games at Williston on Saturday. Jamestown scored its only run of game one in the third inning and Williston responded with four runs in the fourth to take game one 7-1. In the second game, the Coyotes got to Jamestown early, scoring nine runs in the first three innings. Williston has now won seven consecutive games. The Jays round out the regular season this week with six games at home and two road games, starting Tuesday at 4:30 PM against Bismarck St. Mary’s. GOLF: JAMESTOWN TAKES FIFTH, WALZ TIES FOR SEVENTH

Andrew Walz tied for seventh by shooting a 78 on Saturday as the Jays competed in the Century-Legacy Invite. Jamestown took fifth as a team, finishing one stroke better than Bismarck High with a 342. Walz was the only top 10 finisher for Jamestown, but both Easton Romasdal and Hunter Gegelman both shot 88s. Other Blue Jay scores included Camron Anderson with a 91, Jordan Dooley at 93, and Luke LeFevre with a 102. Jamestown heads back to the Capital City on Tuesday for the Bismarck High Invite.

GIRL’S TENNIS: JAMESTOWN FINISHES NINTH IN WEST FARGO, BEATS WAHPETON

The Blue Jay girls tennis team earned its second win of the year on Friday with a 3-2 victory over Wahpeton in non-conference action. Phoebe Olson earned two more individual wins on Friday, moving her to 6-0 in singles this season. Jamestown then ended up in ninth place at the West Fargo Sheyenne Invitational on Saturday, earning three total points as a team. The Blue Jays are at Mandan and Minot this week before taking on West Fargo at home Saturday for Senior Day. The West Region Tournament for girl’s tennis starts next Thursday, May 26th.
