VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The local Sons of Norway Hjemdahl Lodge 14-481 is getting ready for the upcoming Syttende Mai Luncheon Buffet.

Syttende Mai is a wonderful spring day celebrating Norway’s Constitution Day or Independence Day. In Norway it is celebrated with parades and lots of food.

The luncheon buffet will be held on Tuesday, May 17 upstairs at the Valley City Eagles from 11 am – 1:30 pm. A 2-line buffet will feature open-faced sandwiches, coleslaw, rommegrot, lefse, vaflers with trollkrem, kromkage, sot souppe (sweet soup), kranse kakka, sandbakkels, rosettes & more Norwegian favorites. There will also be coffee included.

Tickets can be purchased early for $15 at the Barnes County Museum, Alley Beans Coffee Shop or at Enterprise Sales (Duane). Early ticket purchasers will be eligible for a door prize on Tuesday, May 17. Tickets will also be available at the door. Take out is available. Come enjoy all the delicious homemade food!
