VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Hi-Liners welcomed EDC foe West Fargo Sheyenne Mustangs to town on Tuesday looking pick up a big win in the standings. The Mustangs would score first, and the Hi-Liners would do a good job of battling back but the 4th inning was the story of this game as West Fargo Sheyenne would put up 8 runs on their way to the 15-3 win in 5 innings. A shout out needs to go out to the grounds crew who worked on the field all day long to get rid of the excess water and to get it playable for this game to take place.
First inning saw the Mustangs strike first. First baseman Madison Glienke would hit an RBI single to score teammate Kyra Narum. Sheyenne would put up a pair of runs in the second inning and another in the 3rd to take a 4-0 lead. Valley City’s bats came alive in the home half of the 3rd inning. Hi-Liners would get RBI singles from Jada Nelson and Autumn McGough as well as a sacrifice fly from Dylann Diegel to make it a 4-3 Mustang lead.
That would be the closest the game would get. In the 4th inning West Fargo Sheyenne would put up 8 runs. After Addi Rolstad extended the lead for the Mustangs, it was Abby Misiolek who really broke the game open with a 2-run RBI of her own to give her team the 9-3 lead. Quinn Thompson would also add an RBI single and then a couple of walks with the bases loaded made it a 12-3 lead. The Mustangs would tack another another 3-runs in the top of the 5th inning. Going into the bottom of the 5th the Hi-Liners needed to bring the game within 10 runs to keep the game going. Unfortunately for Valley City they could not score any runs and West Fargo Sheyenne wins the game in 5 innings, 15-3.
Next up, the Hi-Liners will host Shanley in Valley City on Thursday, of course weather permitting. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30PM and can be heard on am1490/96.3FM, streamed on NewsDakota.com, or on the KOVC app.
