ELDRIDGE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A man previously involved in a pursuit from law enforcement in Southwest Stutsman County was found dead on Friday, April 29th after being reported missing.
36 year-old Jesse Leppert was found in the area of the original pursuit according to the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office. Leppert was involved in a pursuit on April 24th in Stutsman County prior to being reported missing. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is now investigating the cause of death.
Leppert reportedly did not have a permanent address, but was known to stay with people in the Jamestown area. Officers attempted to stop him on April 24th in Eldridge for a traffic violation when he led them on a pursuit that ended in a farmyard southwest of the town. He fled on foot into trees and the field surrounding the farm. Officers could not locate him and he was not found after the pursuit.
The female passenger later reported him missing on April 29th and a subsequent search was conducted by the Sheriff’s Office. His body was found near the pursuit area.
