VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Cardinals scored the first run of the game in the home half of the fourth inning and led 1-0 after five innings of play, but the Patriots scored four runs of their own in the top of the sixth inning and go on to win 5-1 over Carrington in non-region High School Baseball Tuesday afternoon at Charlie Brown Field in Valley City. Carrington drops to 2-3 overall and Mayville/Portland/Clifford/Galesburg improves to 3-0 overall.

Left Fielder Jake Hutter for MPCG had two singles and scored one run, Jake Otto for Carrington had two singles as well. The Cardinals used three pitchers, Hudson Schmitz started, Grady Shipman and Lucas Hendrickson came in in relief. The Patriots used two pitchers, starter Marshall Judisch and Landon Koenig in relief. The game was supposed to be played in Jamestown at Jack Brown, but field conditions wouldn’t allow it, so the game was moved to Charlie Brown.
