JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The following is a response by Jamestown Mayor Dwaine Heinrich about how the North Dakota Attorney General handled his alleged assault and harassment accusation.
“I had hoped I would not have to do something like this. However, due to the failure of the BCI/attorney general‘s office to properly investigate and the failure of the Stutsman County states attorneys office to properly evaluate I was left with no choice. This whole episode could be used as a textbook example of an epic failure of the criminal justice system to respond properly to a serious matter. I still can’t get my head around the fact that the attorney general of the state of North Dakota would in effect give carte blanche to people to harass and falsely accuse elected officials for purposes of retaliation in the state by saying to investigate such matters would not be an appropriate use of state funds.
It is an absolutely stunning and irresponsible position. It is what it is!
