JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Blue Jay girls soccer team grabbed a pair of wins over the weekend as Jamestown defeated St. Mary’s 3-0 and Williston 4-0 at the Jimmie Turf Field.
GAME ONE: JAMESTOWN 3, ST. MARY’S 0
Jamestown netted three first-half goals and goalkeeper Olivia Sorlie faced just two shots as the Jays snapped a three-game losing skid with a win over the Saints. All three goals for the Jays were unassisted, starting in the 11th minute when senior Haley Nelson scored her first goal of the year. In the 24th, Claire Frohlich put the Jays up 2-0 and two minutes later, Peyton Waliser picked up her second goal this season.
GAME TWO: JAMESTOWN 4, WILLISTON 0
A pair of goals on Saturday by Nelson helped Jamestown complete the weekend sweep and pick up two conference wins. Nelson scored the lone goal in the first half and once again in the second half for two of the four Jamestown goals. Frohlich scored her second goal of the weekend in the 50th minute, and Emma Hillerud notched her first goal in the win for the Jays. Sorlie faced just one shot from the Coyotes, who dropped to 0-5 on the year.
Jamestown, now 3-4 overall and in the WDA, hosts Bismarck High (5-0) on Tuesday night at 7:30 PM.
