OAKES, N.D. (NDHP) – The NDHP responded to a two vehicle property damage crash that occurred on Hwy. 13 about two miles east of Hwy. 1 at approximately 11:18 pm on April 28th. A westbound 2006 Pontiac G6 crossed the center line and side swiped a eastbound 2003 Ford F150.

Captain Bryan Niewind said after the collision, both vehicles entered the ditch. The driver of the Pontiac fled the scene on foot before first responders arrived. The driver of the Ford remained on scene.

He said there were no injuries in the crash. The NDHP was assisted by the Ransom, Dickey and Sargent County SO’s and Oakes PD. The Oakes FD and Ambulance also responded.

Niewind said 1st Responders searched on scene and in the surrounding area for approximately 3 hours in an attempt to locate the driver of the Pontiac. The suspected driver was not found. The NDHP continues to investigate the incident and is aware the suspected driver that fled the scene is not in danger and is accounted for.

Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation according to Niewind.
