VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Sheyenne River in Valley City reached a crest of 18.09 feet on Sunday, May 1st.

Baldhill dam resource manager Rich Schueneman said outflows out of the dam were cut back to 3,900 cfs on Sunday. He said the inflows coming into Lake Ashtabula will reach 8,000 cfs on Monday, but with five feet of pool storage available in the lake this flood event is manageable.

Barnes County Emergency Manager Sue Lloyd said a bridge north of Kathryn closed on Sunday, but so far, the current situation is manageable.

City Administrator Gwen Crawford said city officials will work on a cleanup plan. She said if maybe a few days before the implement it.

All residents are asked to stay off all dikes and levees in Valley City until further notice.

The city of Valley City received 2.6 inches of rain over a two day period on Friday, April 29th and Saturday, April 30th.
