JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School softball team won two games by mercy rule on Thursday night at Trapper Field against Mandan.

GAME ONE: JAMESTOWN 12, MANDAN 2 (Six Innings)

Mandan scored two unearned runs in the first inning and that was all they would get in game one as the Jays’ bats came alive in the middle innings. Sophomore Makenna Nold finished 3-for-3 at the plate with a solo home run and two runs driven in and junior Katie Falk was 4-for-4 with three runs scored in the victory. Jamestown recorded 14 total hits in game one, and senior Katie Trumbauer also was 2-for-3 with a double. The Jays scored six runs in the fifth inning to blow the game open. Falk earned the win in the circle for Jamestown, going all six innings without allowing an earned run and striking out 10.

GAME TWO: JAMESTOWN 13, MANDAN 2 (Five Innings)

In the second game, the Blue Jays fell behind 1-0 early but used patience at the plate to get back into the game, scoring six runs in the bottom of the second. Jamestown ended game two with just six total hits, but the Jays reached base 12 different times via the walk. Rylee Joseph drove in a pair of runs and seven different Jamestown players scored. Nold worked all five innings, allowing just three hits while striking out four.

Jamestown, now 9-5 overall and 9-3 in the WDA, will be at home for the final time this season on Tuesday against Bismarck Legacy. First pitch of game one is set for 4:30 PM from Trapper Field.
