VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The city of Valley City is watching their dikes, clay levees and flood walls as the Sheyenne River is forecast to crest at 18.5 feet next week.

Baldhill dam resource manager Rich Schueneman said outflows out of the dam remain at 4,060 cfs on Thursday.

A call center hotline for Barnes County residents who have flood related questions or would like to volunteer to help other is 701-890-7848.

Filled sandbags are available for Barnes County residents from 8am to 6pm or by appointment at the Fire Hall in Valley City until further notice.

All residents are asked to stay off all dikes and levees in Valley City during this flooding event. The police department wants to remind citizens that there is a $500 fine for anyone caught standing or walking on dikes or levees in Valley City.
