VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCSUAthletics.com) – The Valley City State men’s and women’s golf teams had four players earn Honorable Mention All-Conference nods as the Vikings concluded the season at Wedgewood Cove Golf Club for the NSAA Championship Tournament on Tuesday.

Senior Jayden Ewoniuk was VCSU’s top finisher and placed eighth at the par-72 course. He carded a 157 (78-79) to earn NSAA Honorable Mention All-Conference. Ewoniuk was also named an NSAA Champion of Character. Rory Gentzkow earned his second career Honorable Mention All-Conference honor in 2022 after finishing in a tie for 11th place with a two-day 160 (79-81).

On the women’s side, senior Jocelyn Braunberger earned an Honorable Mention All-Conference nod as she finished in a tie for 11th with a 174 (89-85). It is her third career All-Conference honor after earning NSAA Second Team as a freshman and NSAA Honorable Mention as a junior. Junior Hayley Shanks also earned Honorable Mention All-Conference after carding a 175 (92-83) to finish in a tie for 13th place at the tournament. Shanks was also named a Champion of Character.

Also competing for the Viking women were Nevaeh Davis who placed 21st with a 197 (104-93) and Sydney Staus who was right behind her in 22nd with a 201 (104-97). Megan Haugrud added a 247 (135-112) and placed 27th to round out the Viking women.

VCSU’s women finished in fourth place out of six teams competing at the NSAA Championships. VCSU totaled a 389 on Monday and shaved 31 strokes off its score to card a 358 on Tuesday for a 747 tournament score. Bellevue University won the team title with a two-day 634 (328-306) team score. The Bruins’ Allison Temple earned medalist honors with a 151 (76-75). Bellevue will advance to the NAIA National Golf Tournament May 24-27 hosted by Lincoln Park West in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The Viking men finished in fifth place out of six conference teams and totaled a 698 (353-345) team score. Bellevue University earned the team title with a 6-over par 582 (295-287).

VCSU’s Alex Klever carded a 173 (89-84) and finished 22nd while Henrik Jacobsen added a 210 (107-103) to place 27th. Parker Heydt rounded out the Vikings with a 211 (110-101) and a 28th place finish.

Bellevue’s Alex Zillig won the individual man’s title with a 1-under par 143 (70-73) at the tournament. Bellevue advances to the NAIA National Golf Tournament hosted at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.
