JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School softball team battled with Bismarck High in a pair of games on a chilly Tuesday night at Trapper Field.

GAME ONE: BISMARCK HIGH 8, JAMESTOWN 3

A pitching duel between two of the state’s best pitchers highlighted the first five innings of game one. Jamestown’s Katie Falk and Bismarck’s Logan Gronberg allowed just three combined runs and nine hits during the first five frames. Bismarck High held a 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth before Jenna Fischer tied the game up with one swing with a home run into left field.

In the top of the seventh, the Demons capitalized on some good at-bats and errors to put up five runs and push Jamestown out of reach. The Blue Jays committed two errors in the seventh, and four total in the game. Junior Katie Falk went all seven innings in the circle, giving up 15 hits and striking out five. At the plate, Fischer was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Alyssa Gange and Jada Walter each had a hit in game one.

GAME TWO: JAMESTOWN 11, BISMARCK HIGH 1

Katie Falk got the offense moving early in game one and Makenna Nold tosses a complete game as the Jays knocked off Bismarck in game two. Falk, Nold, and Fischer combined for seven of the 12 Jamestown hits in game two. The Jays put up three runs immediately and then tacked on four more in the fourth to take control of the game. Nold allowed just three hits and struck out three. Fischer led Jamestown by going 3-for-4 at the plate.
