JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Historic 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse has set its sights on the next large project in its renovations.

Site Supervisor Steve Reidburn says visitors for the next two years will see ongoing construction of the elevator in the Northwest corner of the building.

Reidburn adds that when it’s completed, the elevator will increase access to the upper levels and Courthouse basement, something they’ve lacked since renovations first began.

While it’s exciting news, Reidburn says it’s still “a long ways out” from completion.

The Historic 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse will open for regular hours over the summer the week after Memorial Day. Hours will be 10 AM to 5 PM Wednesday through Sunday and closed Monday and Tuesday.

The courthouse features their hands-on civics exhibit, escape room, Junior Sheriff program, and more.

Reidburn says they’ve also got some musical guests and speakers lined up that will be on different Saturdays through the summer.
