VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Valley City is racing against the clock to fight a flash flood hitting the Sheyenne River Valley following heavy rain showers.

The city of Valley City declared a flood emergency on Saturday, April 23rd.

City Administrator Gwen Crawford said city crews, engineers and contractors are working to protect the city at 21 feet. The river is forecast to crest at 18.5 feet on Wednesday, April 27th.
