JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A uniquely designed and inspired quilt is being auctioned off to raise money for the Jamestown Downtown Association (JDA) hanging flower baskets program.
Judy Lonnberg is a newer resident of Jamestown and says she was inspired to design and create a quilt after she noticed the pavers highlighting some of the communities most historical and influential members along main street.
Lonnberg says after getting permission to photograph each paver to put the quilt together, she took a few months to collect photos, layout the design, and got help stitching it together by Beth Cole.
She says the design she chose makes the “Walk of Fame Quilt” appear as it would along the streets of Jamestown.
The fabric features butterflies and foliage and hues of blue to represent the areas surrounding the pavers. Once the quilt was completed, she says she wanted the quilt to be used as a fundraiser for a project.
That’s when Jamestown Downtown Association President Lynn Lambrecht was approached with the idea.
The one-of-a-kind quilt is being auctioned off on the i3G Media Wheeler Dealer Auction with 100 percent of the funds going to the Jamestown Downtown Association hanging flower baskets program.
Lonnberg added being a gardener as well, she was excited that her quilt would be used for that cause.
Lambrecht pointed out that they’re appreciative to everyone who made the paver project possible and to Judy for her quilt to raise money for their hanging flower baskets. She added they are currently raising money to support that beautification project and there are other ways to help.
