BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School girls soccer team picked up its first win of the season on Tuesday night in the capital city with a 2-0 win over Bismarck Century.
The Blue Jays scored both goals during the first 15 minutes of play as Hannah Murchie put Jamestown in front in the sixth minute with an unassisted goal, her first of the season. Less than ten minutes later, Claire Frohlich scored in the 14th off an assist from Brenna Hatch to put the Jays up 2-0.
Goalie Olivia Sorlie made six saves on the night for the Blue Jays, who handed Century its second loss of the season. Sorlie’s six saves were by far her fewest of the year as she has already recorded 50 total saves through three matches. Both teams battled the weather on Tuesday night as temperatures at the start of the match were in the upper 30s.
Jamestown, now 1-2 on the year, will face Minot on Friday at 4:00 PM in their first home game of the year. Minot was picked to finish first in the WDA during the preseason poll and the Majettes are currently 2-0 on the year. Friday’s game will be held at the University of Jamestown.
