Some roads remained no travel as of 11 AM Friday on April 15th, 2022.

BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After a historic snowfall that left upwards of 30 inches of snow in some parts of the state, North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) crews have worked overtime to clear state highways and Interstates.

The NDDOT reports US 83 from Bismarck to Minot has been opened from Bismarck to Minot and I-94 eastbound from Bismarck to Jamestown was opened at 10 AM, followed by westbound from Jamestown to Bismarck at 11 AM. I-94 remains closed from Bismarck to the Montana border in both directions, but plans are to re-open the Interstate at Noon central time Friday, April 15th.

While roads are opening, the NDDOT warns motorists that it is still icy. You’re encouraged to drive for the conditions, check the travel map before you go, and be on alert for snow removal equipment on the road.

The storm that began early Tuesday and continued through Wednesday closed many roads, leaving trucks and motorists stranded in Jamestown. The NDDOT reported at one point, parking access for large commercial vehicles in Jamestown and Bismarck was near capacity so commercial vehicle drivers were encouraged to plan accordingly.
