JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The difference in gender pay continues to be an issue the American Association of University Women, or AAUW, continues to battle.

Debbie Alber with Jamestown AAUW says the 2020 Census shows just how big that pay gap is in the U.S.

She adds the gap in North Dakota is just as wide.

Women in North Dakota typically make $0.73 for every dollar paid to men working the same full-time position. Jamestown AAUW will be hosting an online salary negotiation seminar called “WorkSmart” on Thursday, April 21st.

Alber says the workshop will cover causes and impact of gender pay gap, give tools to research competitive salaries, tips to articulate skills, qualifications, and experience, and the right way to talk about pay.

The workshop is limited and those interested can contact Debbie Alber at 701-269-1446 or email dova_car@yahoo.com to register or visit jamestown-nd.aauw.net.
